Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association April 2026 Meeting Minutes

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY:                              President, Rick Rayner

MINUTES: Minutes of the April meeting were presented online and in written form at the meeting.  Nick Vallee moved to approve the minutes.  Bob Schenn seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Fair:  Rick Rayner:  Discussed the need for volunteers to work the sales booth, the information booth and the candle making booth.  Nick has been contacting vendors for honey.  The person who organizes the candle making table has been contacted and she is looking to get more wax product for the event.

            It was noted that Ethan Mitchell will act as a judge for the bee categories again this year as will Greg Breitzke – both NWIBA members

PRESENTATIONS

David Solar – Feeding:  David gave a presentation on when, how and what to feed your bees based on his review of the science as well as his own personal observations in his apiary.  A lively discussion of various members experiences ensued.

It was moved that we adjourn, was seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
